Kings corner is one of the most popular card games where players get rid of their cards by placing them as in Solitaire but with alternate red and black color cards in lower ranking order.
The game starts with four piles, four more may be added during play to the corners. These can be started with Kings.

How to Deal?
The dealer is chosen randomly. The position passes clockwise after every hand. Each player is given 7 cards. The rest of the cards are placed at the center and this forms the stock pile.
From the stock pile, 4 cards are flipped and faced up. These are then put N, S, E, and W of the stock pile and they act as the foundation piles.
How to Play?
The game moves clockwise from the left of the dealer. Player, on their turn can make moves as and how they want to –
- Players can play on the foundation piles from their hand = The cards are to be placed alternate colored and lower in rank than the previous card. Which means you have to place a red 5 on a black 6. Note that aces are the lowest cards in this game and hence you cannot put any other card on top of it.
- Players can use a King to start a King’s Corner = The king card is placed diagonally at NE, NW, SE, SW. The kings can be built upon like the foundation piles.
- Move 1 foundation pile onto the other = This is possible when the bottom card of a foundation is a rank lower and of the opposite color of the foundation to which you are moving it.
- Play Any card on an empty foundation = The player who empties their hand first is the winner of King’s corner. In case a player is not able to play with their cards, they can draw from the stockpile. The kings that have been dealt in the foundation piles can be moved to the corners.
In case the stock pile runs out of cards, players can continue with the game without drawing. The game ends in 2 conditions – one when a player plays all their cards and the other when no cards can be drawn or played.
Scoring Card
For the cards left in hand, players will get penalties by deducing the score points.
- Kings = 10 Points
- Rest of the Cards = 1 point
The points are calculated at the end of each deal until any player achieves the target score, which was set before the game started.
The target points are generally anywhere between 25-50 points. The player who has the lowest number of points wins Kings Corner card game.
Card Game Variations
One of the game variations is playing the cards in your hand or drawing from deck after your 7 cards have been dealt. This type of variation of Kings Corner card needs 2 piles consolidation and no cards in hand.
While playing if your cards over and if there is an open spot at any of the 4 – North, East, South or west, you have to draw 3 cards and then continue with the game.
Another variation is on Scoring. The target score for this version of Kings corner is anywhere between 100 and 250. Below is the scoring pattern –
- Aces = 25 points
- Face Cards, 10s = 10 Points
- Number Cards from 2 to 9 = 5 points.
