How to deal
The dealer is chosen among the players randomly. To make it more interesting, the dealer can be chosen through a chugging competition.
The players sit around a table with beer in their hands. Apart from this, the players also have to decide what number of drinks to assign for the rows in pyramid.
Round 1
The game begins with the dealer asking – ‘Red or Black?’ to all the players. The dealer now exposes the top most card from the pack to the 1st player and if they were right in their guess, they choose one player who has to drink.
But if they are wrong in guessing the card color, that player has to drink. The same way is continued until all the players have seen their first card.
Round 2
The second round of the game starts with the question by the dealer – ‘Higher or Lower?’. Now note here that Ace is the highest and 2s are the lowest in this game.
So now the players are to guess if their next card will be higher or lower in value than their previous card.
So if a player can correctly guess, they choose one player who has to drink. But if they are wrong in guessing the card value, that player has to drink alone. The same way is continued until all the players have seen their second card.
Round 3
The third-round question of the dealer is ‘In between or Outside?’. So now the players have to guess whether their third card will be in between the values of the first 2 cards or outside them.
A little logic with your cards and you might actually guess this one right.
Again, if a player can correctly guess, they choose one player who has to drink. But if they are wrong in guessing the card value, that player has to drink alone. The same way is continued until all the players have seen their third card.
Capture Using a Number Card
In this last round, the players have to guess the suit of their 4th and final card. It could be any – clubs, spades, diamonds, hearts. In this final round, if the player guesses correctly, they can make 5 drink up.
But If they are wrong, they have to drink 1. Players, if guessed correctly, can make one player drink 5 or split this up.
Now the players take all of their 4 cards and form a pyramid. All the rows are assigned a value with alcohol. That means, the top row is worth more drinks than the bottom row.
This is chosen by the players mutually before starting the game.
Starting from the bottom row, the cards are flipped over one at a time.
The players that have a card in hand of the same rank place their card on the pyramid and give any player the assigned number of drinks for that row. Note that, players can lay more than one card at a time.
Finishing Off the Pyramid
When the last card of the pyramid is flipped and the players have drunk, the player having the greatest number of cards in their hand becomes the loser and has to ride the bus.
In case of a tie here, the player having the highest-ranking card is the loser here.
While riding the bus, the loser player has to finish all the 4 questions given below –
- Red or Black
- Higher or Lower
- In between or outside
- Suit
And if they give an incorrect answer to a question, the game starts back to question 1. The game finishes when the entire deck is used or if all the 4 questions are answered correctly.
