Italy’s “Pantelleria” Island Is One of the Trend Travel Destinations for 2021
Italy also continues to be one of the most popular holiday destinations. But there is a twist: the more secluded and unknown, the better.
By 2021, the small volcanic island of Pantelleria will come into focus when it comes to the most popular travel destinations. The Mediterranean island between Tunisia and Italy is known for its barren landscape, many dark stones, capers, and good wine. And the food, a mix of Arabic and Italian cuisine, regularly attracts tourists to the island.
Stars like Madonna, Sting, or Giorgio Armani have already recognized Pantelleria’s beauty and regularly spend their summers there.
Trend Destinations 2021: Basque Country (Northern Spain)
Another destination in Europe that is one of the trend destinations in 2021 is the Basque Country. The Basque Country describes a region in northern Spain, right on the border with France, which is known for its unique language and distinctive cuisine. And the wild, rugged landscape, which was already used as the filming location for the “Game of Thrones” series, makes the northern Spanish autonomous region between Bilbao and Santander so special.
Since the Basque Country is not yet a destination for mass tourism, you can relax and unwind here. But also active vacationers who would like to hike or surf will not miss out in northern Spain.
Skagen in Denmark Is the Top Travel Destination in 2021
The interest in holidays in Denmark has increased massively. The Scandinavian country is located directly between the North Sea and the Baltic Sea and can charm you with beautiful beaches and hyggeligen cities.
A particularly popular resort on the Danish coast is Skagen. Skagen is not only ideal for swimming and long walks on the beach but also has the longest sunshine in Denmark. And windsurfers and sailors also get their money’s worth here. Top: The beaches of Skagen have so far been spared from mass tourism.
Sweden’s Archipelago Is One of the Favourite Destinations
Sweden has been a popular travel destination for years and tourists will be drawn to Scandinavia again in 2021 – especially in Sweden’s so-called archipelago gardens. Not only do Swedes spend their summer holidays here, but more and more foreign tourists are discovering the archipelago with its 30,000 small islands for themselves.
The special thing about the archipelago: everyone can find exactly what they are looking for here. In addition to islands with hip bars and restaurants, there are also quiet islands with cosy holiday homes with a sauna right on the water, as well as a secluded, deserted archipelago.
The Cyclades Are Top Travel Destinations in 2021
Greece has been enjoying increasing popularity with tourists for years. No wonder: Whether pulsating cities like Athens and Thessaloniki, dreamlike islands with gleaming white houses and idyllic beaches up to a mountainous inland – Greece has something to offer for every holiday taste.
One of the most popular tourist destinations in Greece are the Cycladic islands. The Cyclades lie between Athens and Crete and consist of 56 small and large islands. Two of the most famous Cycladic islands are Santorini and Mykonos. Even if they are beautiful, they are unfortunately often overrun with tourists. Not very attractive.
Other islands of the Cyclades, on the other hand, are still real insider tips. The island of Paros, for example, is recommended, with its empty sandy beaches, charming villages, and white houses. And also Naox, Antiparos, and Milos are definitely worth a trip.
Travel Trends 2021: Austria Is Among the Top 10
Austria was also one of the countries that suddenly came into the focus of holidaymakers this year. After all, Austria has a lot to offer – hiking fans and nature lovers in particular get their money’s worth here. Austria can also be reached by car – an important aspect for many travellers during the ongoing Corona crisis.
Southern Styria is one of the most popular holiday regions in Austria. It is considered an idyllic wine region and offers not only hiking routes through mountains, orchards, and forests but also through numerous wine-growing areas. No wonder that the region is often referred to as “Styrian Tuscany”.
Tip: One of the most beautiful vantage points is in Kitzeck in Sausal, Austria’s highest wine-growing community.
Vacation 2021: Slovakia Is a Popular Travel Destination
Nature lovers will also be drawn to Slovakia this year, more precisely to the Tatra National Park. The best-known and oldest national park in Slovakia, together with the Polish Tatra National Park, has been a UNESCO biosphere reserve since 1992.
The national park is predestined for everyone who is looking for peace and relaxation and wants to enjoy nature at a distance from others. Whether for hiking or skiing in winter – the region in Slovakia offers a wide range of outdoor activities.
Trend Travel Destinations for 2021: Netherlands
The Dutch coast is a great alternative for sea destinations.
The Dutch North Sea coast stretches for around 450 kilometres from Zeeland in the southwest over South and North Holland up to the North Sea islands and is known for its long sandy beaches, the many dunes, the numerous water sports, and the small, pretty beach huts where you can enjoy the sun alone, with a partner or with the whole family. Dogs are also welcome guests in most accommodations and on many beaches in Holland.
