The Beginning:
The Rampart Casino started with the attempt of permanently laying off an unknown number of staffs with just a prerecorded phone.
Again, Michelle Bacigalupi, vice president as well as the general manager of Rampart Casino was involved directly in doing this. She remarked that the continued uncertainties regarding the pandemic forced them to take the decision.
Reaction on behalf of the employees
The employees were surprised and shocked to receive the phone call. All they heard were the combined voice recording of VP and GM Michelle Bacigalupi of the decision related to the termination of the employment.
Following this incident, one employee came forward to discuss the matter while staying anonymous. In his statement, he had stated that the decision didn’t surprise at all.
He stated that the company had been already indulged in sending the pre-recorded messages even in the past.
Following the course of action:
Following the course of the situation, Michelle Bacigalupi made her statement that they could’ve sent more notice but failed to do so due to the sudden need of the processing.
Since the revenue system of the casino was facing huge turmoil, they could do nothing but deeply regret the hardships of the employees. Besides everything else, they have also announced that The resort is now going to continue with only 200 of the 1,700 employees it had before the COVID-19 pandemic.
They also state that they will shut down the business if things don’t settle by this October.
The conducted investigations figured out the separate termination letter dated May 8 with the brand name of Rampart and JW Marriot logo. This letter stated the same wording as the recorded message. The company used it as a tool to fire the employees.
The confusion revolving around the matter
No matter what, there is still confusion. The confusion is that authorities are still unsure if the staff who reported the incident worked solely at the casino or was a part of the JW Marriott.
The official website of the hotel states that the letter has no association with the Rampart Casino. But, it’s essential to note that the letter holds the branding of the company.
Final word:
Every circumstance mentioned above comes with a lot of confusion, complaints, as well as sentimental issues. It’s not at all an ethical way to fire employees by sending a pre recorded voice messages.
Again, the economic crisis everywhere has brought enormous problems with itself. The case is still unclear to the authorities. We can just hope for the best.
